Berry Fit Company
Supports Breast Cancer Awareness
Shorty of Shorty's Caboy Hattery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma recently lost her sister to cancer, and then battled the disease herself. Anyone having gone on this journey learns many things about themselves and our healthcare system. The sad fact is that not everyone has the same access to good healthcare. Because of her experience with her sister, Shorty is determined to help others fighting this terrible disease.
In order to make a difference in the lives of others, Shorty has partnered with the University of Oklahoma Cancer Institute. Her goal is to raise $200,000. These funds will create an endowment to support a nutritionist who will work with cancer patients. These patients need help with maintaining their weight while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, and they need educated with feeding tube procedures.
Through her business, Shorty sells pink hats and miscellaneous related smaller items as well as cancer jackets from Berry Fit Company in order to raise needed funds. Also joining Shorty in her efforts are Bar C Cattle, who donate two calves a year and Joni and Riley Middleton.
For each jacket that is sold either through Shorty or Berry Fit Company, $850 is donated directly to this foundation.
In August of this year a dinner was held in Oklahoma City at the Ranch House to help raise additional monies for the foundation. Over $10,000 were raised through auctions and donations.
